Oak Wood Kennels

Just purchased another puppy.  A beautiful black  and silver siberian husky girl.  We adopted her from Sleepy Hollow Kennels.  She is a beautiful, well mannered girl and we're very pleased to have her coming to stay with us.

We will soon be getitng a Siberian Husky.  A while back we gave Goddesss one of our breeding beds, and now she has decided to give us a puppy form the litter she used the bed for.  Isn't she nice?  You will remember Goddesss, from the FFk.  We used her stud lance in the breeding to get our beautiful Pom boy Sandy.  The adult Husky's Goddesss used to breed this litter are both owned by Saiki.  We're not sure yet what kennel she runs, but we'll look into finding out.

We got the kennel for the small breeds complete.  It's all clean, and warm and ready for our little Sandy to grow up.  For now, he resides in the nursery, which we added on to the back of the vets office.  Our new vet (yes, we did make a decision and hired one) specially requested this addition.  He thinks it is better for the puppies to remain in the nursery, rather then going straight to their kennel.    So, figuring he would know bets, we agreed, and added on the nursery.  There is room in there for up to four litters of puppies atm.  We can always expand later if need be, but we don't anticipate the need.

Doctor Jorge tells us Sandy will be ready to move into his kennel soon.  So we're looking forward to that.  As well, we're still looking into aquiring more dogs.  We've got a breeding with deviousnymph's German Shepherds Lex and Lilith.  We're also still looking into adopting more Shelties.  We're hoping to get another male/female pair, and get our Kennel officially registered.

We also have a logo/stamp for our Kennel now.  The letters OakW resting above a quartet of oak leaves.  Simple, but we like it.

Well, it's been a while.  Between the bad weather we got from the hurricanes (we only got the bad weather effects from them, not the actual hurricanes themselves, thankfully!).  And My Ali coming to visit from Berlin.. well, we've been a bit busy.  But Ali has returned home now and things have calmed down some so we can get back to work.  I'm majorly depressed, with another long lonely year ahead of me before I can see Ali again.  But keeping busy should help to pass the time.

And, we have not been completely idle.  We finished the first Kennel, as well as completely converted the barn into an office/exam room for the vet.  Placed ads for a vet and will begin interviewing the applicants soon.  We have decided we will have a separate kennel built for each size category of dogs.  Had thought to have a separate one for each different breed, but we decided for now, to go by size.  We can always build more later if we decide to completely separate them by breed.

That said, the first Kennel built is set aside for small breeds.  How did we decide that?  Well that's easy, we just adopted our first dogs.  Two beautiful Shetland Sheep dogs, purchased from Wolfstorm.  They arrived at our kennel this morninghappy and healthy, and I'm happy to say they have settled in just fine.  We'll be looking for another female, but for now Trade Winds and Guiding Light are a lovely breeding pair for us to start with.

We have a second kennel almost complete.  This one is designated for Tiny breeds.  Since we have a beautiful Pom boy just born.  After that we will begin work on kennels for medium and large sized breeds.

As for the human habitations, the main house is wonderful, all repairs that were needed are complete and the house has been fully baby/puppy proofed.  Feel free to drop us a mail, or leave a note here on this bulletin board if you have any interest in any of our animals or services.  Or even just to say hello, and let us know what you think of Oak Wood.

Well, we have our land.  We purchased an old ranch that was for sale.  A thousand beautiful acres.  The house we will keep I think, as well as the barn.  They're in fairly good condition.  The out buildings we havn't decided on.  We could keep them, but they will need plenty of repairs if we do.

The land itself is truly beautiful.  With lovely meadows, plenty of forest, and we even have our own lake and creek running through.  but the best thing of all, is the location.  We're a full two hours drive from the nearest town.  I absolutely love the isolation, and it will be very peacefull for the dogs.

Going to breed a variety of dogs here.  Big plans, but we will start out slow.  Sort of ease our way into things.  No dogs here at the present, but there will be.  We have to get everything ready for them first.  Going to build the kennels up near the barn.  We're planning to convert the barn into a clinic.  Got to hire a full time vet to come work here.  It's too far from anything to rely on outside vetting.  And having our own vet and clinic on site will give added peace of mind.

Well, that's all for now.  Check back for updates.  I'll post them as often as I can.  Or as often as I have any, either way..
